This course prepares professionals and organizations craft, refine, and deliver communication strategies that are not only persuasive but also aligned with policy, advocacy, and social development goals. Using Media Muse Academy’s applied learning approach, it introduces participants to the 5-Pillar Strategy Model, a robust framework for real-world strategic communication design and execution.
Course Description
Participants will explore the full spectrum of communication strategy: from content creation and validation to crisis response, audience research, and impact evaluation. Drawing from political communication, development communication, public relations, and behavioural change frameworks, this course positions communication as a tool for influence and systems change.
You will learn to build campaigns that shape public opinion, manage reputations, promote policies, and mobilize communities. This is an intensely practical course with real-life case studies, hands-on projects, and tools you can immediately apply to your work.

Module 2: The 5-Pillar Strategy Model
The 5 Pillars Strategy Model is a comprehensive framework designed to manage strategic communication and media programs effectively. It encompasses five key steps:
- Create Content: Developing and shaping narratives using storytelling and targeted messaging to achieve organizational or personal goals.
- Validate Content: Establishing an operational system for creating, crafting, defining, and validating content before its transmission to target audiences and stakeholders.
- Craft Strategy & Crisis Communication: Setting up an efficient system that ensures consistency in communicating achievements over time and prepares for crisis management.
- Monitoring, Tracking & Evaluation: Implementing a system to monitor and evaluate media presence and impact, providing direction in the design, development, and execution of media and communications strategy.
- Research Trends & Project Key Positives: Utilizing media intelligence analytics to gather business intelligence, track stakeholder perception, and build a database of media trends and key stakeholders.
